Went out to see the band (which has renamed itself "Bite the Lime," thereby ruining a perfectly clever title for my previous post) tonight -- Tara and Sean were there, as were Kaffy and Winston and even Greta, who ended up taking my car back to her crib when I wouldn't leave right away. We were having a lovely time when, all of a sudden, my brother and sister walk in. Now, I'd had a few, but I figured we would stay far enough away from each other that none of it would be an issue.

My brother came up to me first. He looks good, said he's starting a new job on Monday and so on and so forth, so I bummed a smoke off him and we danced a bit, and that was it. He said "See ya," and I said "See ya." And later, I goosed him while he was talking to someone I didn't recognize. Don't think he appreciated that, but since I've never been a big sister, I'd like to think big sisters do that kind of shit to embarass their little brothers, right?

The issue started, however, when I was talking to a mutual friend of my sister's and mine. I was saying my goodbyes, and so was she. I chose to do what I did before, but she, in the same condescending tone that she used on my aunt at the shower that made me want to smack her smug little gob, said "Hi, (Broad)." I, not disguising my umbrage at her tone, answered back in kind, "Hi, Sweetie. How are you?" to which she replied fine, you? or something. And I was like "Fine" and excused myself, because we were a) in front of people and b) I'm told that I can get pretty vicious when I've had booze, so again, the whole in front of people thing. I went back to join Kaffy and Winston and the other people I was chatting with.

My sister comes whipping around the fence and starts off with "I'm trying to make an effort here since we have family and mutual friends ..."

To be honest, I don't remember everything in the exact order in which it was exchanged after that. But what I can tell you (and this is verified by both Kaffy and Winston)? I told her I had been drinking and that I wasn't prepared to talk about anything, and I certainly wasn't going to do it there and then. I also kept trying to walk away from her. (At one point, I even gave her the hand.) Instead of respecting my obvious discomfort at the whole thing, she kept following me and telling me that if I felt the need to grandstand in front of my friends, that was fine; I obviously wasn't ready to make peace, to which I told her she already told me how she felt about me three years ago (she told me our mother could've flushed me down the sink and that she (my sister) hated me. I have the e-mail to prove it.) It was at that point Kaffy jumped in as I told my sister for about the third time that I would NOT discuss our bullshit in public. Kaffy said, "You know, she has the same e-mail," to which my sister said, "I don't know what it is (a total lie), and we don't communicate well by e-mail (read: SHE doesn't communicate well by e-mail)." So Kaffy says very calmly, "(Baby Brother) has her number and her e-mail. You can get it from him." My sister says, "This isn't about her and (Baby Brother)," to which Kaffy says, "I didn't say that. I said you can get her contact information from him. He knows how to get in touch with her, because she's in the same place." Again more sniping, to which my final last words were "Tell our mother I said 'Hi,' " as she walked away.

And then? I ended up calling the one guy and leaving him a message about the whole thing when I'm reasonably sure he doesn't give a shit.

Anyway, I know what I think about all this -- at least, I think I do -- but for now, I'm just putting it all out there and letting y'all chew on it for a bit. Was it an attempt at reconcilliation like she said, and I was just being a cunt, or was it an ambush?

Oh, and yeah -- I threw the damn shoes over my freakin' balcony. Fucking things gave me blisters, anyway.
