The most fucked-up thing to me about the tsunami disaster? For some reason, don't ask me what, I've always equated tsunamis with hurricanes and ominous, horrifying skies. So I'm watching shots of it last night on Nightline, and everything's sunny and happy and whoa! Holy shit! That's a gi-normous wave! Eating the coast! In the sunshine! That ain't right.
So, my day turned out less crappy as it trudged on yesterday: I did talk to my one editor later and everything seems to be all right, and another editor was kind enough to let me include the two stories I worked on yesterday in my woefully pathetic requisition for this pay period so I won't starve. After all, it's a slow time of year. (Digression: Star Jonesreynolds just told Jessica Simpson that her voice is "on point." I'm not sure why I want to stick a fork in my ear more -- because she said "Your voice is ON POINT" or the fact that she's lying and blowing sunshine up Simpson's ass because I can't STAND her mush-mouthed voice. Shudder). The other stuff? Well, lemme tell you a story:
I, too, cannot stand the sound of Jessica Simpson's voice. It reminds me of vast voids in space.
The tsunami is something I just am having such a hard time comprehending... The disaster that this thing has caused!
And yeah.. you and me... phone call soon about guys.
Whe I first heard of jessica Simpson I thought, "wasn't that OJ's wife that he killed?" and then when I learned more, I WISHED it was oj's wife that he killed. Brain dead, talentless hack who gets a pass on eveything because she's hot.
Tsunami - Bad
Nick Lachey's Ornament - Worse
But the train wreck I really wish would have her 15 minutes expire is freaking Paris Hilton. How completely tired am I of seeing her flaunt her famousness with that vapid smile and heroin-chic whoreishness that so many people mistakenly think is sexy. We've reached the bottom, people, when usless wastes of flesh are dubbed "famous for being famous".
Now let me tell you how I really feel,
Dix
The most fuck-up thing about the tsunami disaster was the sunny sky????
I'll just keep quiet on that part of the post...
I think Jessica Simpson is a freakin' genius. She has turned a stereotype into a money making machine.
Yes, kj, because I'm completely unsympathetic to the 70,000+ people who're now dead and do not think it's absolutely abhorrent that George Bush is giving only fucking $35 million to six or seven countries that have been damn near wiped off the planet when he gave billions to the state under his brother's watch to rebuild after, in comparison, four piddly-ass hurricanes.
That's an awfully big judgement to make about someone without knowing them, and then commenting on it publically. Do you do that often?
Latest news on the disaster, India's refusing aid. They say they already have enough money and people in place and are sending their own troops and supplies to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. (Thank you, come again!)
According to them, the disaster really isn't that horrible with the exception of loss of life. The areas affected are only coastal, no big ports, and when compared to the earthquake that hit them in 2001 and killed 20,000 people, the damage is minimal. At least, in India.
Politics-schmolitics, a shit-ton of people died and that really sucks. No matter how much money we send, it'll never be enough to cover the cost of the loss of human life. My big beef: the fact that I keep pulling up news stories about how a swimsuit model from Eastern Europe clung to a palm tree for 8 hours and Jet Li injured his foot. Go tell that to the guy who lost his house, his fishing boat, and his wife and 7 kids.
Here's the sad truth of the matter: http://comicspage.com/comicspage/main.jsp?file=20041228eddav-a-p.jpg&refresh_content=1&component_id=3&custid=69&catid=1191&dir=%2Fmattdavies
